About George Davis:
Dr George Davis is a retired New Zealand high schoolteacher who recently completed a PhD on ANZAC Day meanings and memories in each of New Zealand, Australia and Turkey. |
George Davis retired as a head of department of History from a Dunedin high school in 2000 and was soon appointed as a tutor for the Department of History, University of
Otago.
As part of his PhD research from 2005 to 2009 he sought material in Turkey and UK archives and was briefly an honorary Visiting Fellow of the Australian War Memorial, Canberra.
George Davis has received a number of scholarships and was a Claude McCarthy Fellow in 2007.
His research on commemorative matters is presently being drafted into a book which will encompass ANZAC and Turkish views.
