8 DAYS YACHT CHARTER GOCEK - KEKOVA - GOCEK ITINERARY:
Day 1 - Saturday - Boarding at 3:00 pm in Gocek
(Dinner onboard your yacht)
Meeting at the airport or your hotel and transfer to harbour. Dinner ashore in one of Goceks many fine restaurants, such as the Nanai, where the food is superb. Overnight in Goceks pretty harbour.
Day 2 - Sunday - Gemiler Island
(Breakfast, lunch and dinner onboard)
After breakfast, sail through the islands of the Gulf, stopping to anchor for lunch in a quiet cove. Continue on to Gemiler Island and spend some time exploring with mask and flippers as you discover the ancient quay and some harbour-side shops just below the surface of the water! Then go ashore and visit the ruins of what was once a sizeable Byzantine settlement. See a basilica, a temple with mosaic floors and a covered walkway, alongside numerous shops, houses and cisterns. Its a fascinating site and the view from the top of the island is superb! Watch the sun set over the Mediterranean with a glass of champagne in hand. Overnight at Cold Water Bay.
Day 3 - Monday - Kalkan and Ancient Xanthos, Patara, Letoon
(Breakfast, lunch and dinner onboard)
An early morning start for the crossing of the Seven Capes. By lunchtime, you will be anchored within the small harbour of Kalkan. Kalkan is a small seaside town with steep streets bordered by shops, cafes and some old renovated Greek-style buildings. Colourful bougainvillea and jasmine spill from the balconies overhead and give the town a certain charm. This afternoon, take a taxi for an overland tour to the ruins of three important Lycian cities: Xanthos, Letoon and Patara (birth place of St. Nicholas, Santa Claus). Be sure to take your togs and towels as the beach at Patara is absolutely beautiful and the water is an amazing colour! Spend an hour here before returning to the yacht in the early evening. Enjoy a memorable dinner ashore in a restaurant perched high on the hill overlooking the harbour and the islands beyond.
Day 4 - Tuesday - Kekova and ancient Simena
(Breakfast, lunch and dinner onboard)
Take a leisurely sail around to the Kekova islands. Once at anchor near the village of Kale, there will be an opportunity to go ashore and explore the medieval fortress of ancient Simena. Reaching the highest walls of the fortress, stop and marvel at the views out over the village and the island of Kekova. There is also a small theatre within the fortress walls and numerous sarcophagi on the way up the hillside. You might also meet with some of the friendly locals who will try to persuade you to buy some of their handcrafts. Overnight here at Kalekoy.
Day 5 - Wednesday - Kas
(Breakfast, lunch and dinner onboard)
Cruise along Kekova island, viewing the ruins of the Sunken City below before stopping to swim from a small beach - upon which you will find the ruins of a church. Continue cruising west as far as Kas, arriving in the early afternoon. Take a walk ashore and enjoy the wonderful village atmosphere, perhaps taking in a visit to the theatre of ancient Antiphellos, or just doing some souvenir hunting in the colourful harbour side shops. Overnight in Kas Harbour with a chance to enjoy Kass brilliant nightlife in some of the small bars and cafes.
Day 6 - Thursday - Greek Ghost Town Kaya Koy and Karacaoren
(Breakfast, lunch and dinner onboard)
Sail past the Seven Capes and into one of the Gemiler anchorages for lunch. In the early afternoon, climb a hillside track to a deserted Greek village, which cascades down the surrounding hills and into a valley. This settlement was once very prosperous and had two large churches, but was abandoned during the population exchanges of 1923. Returning to the yacht at anchor below, cruise the short distance to Karacaoren, a superb place for snorkelling with some small islands dotted about the bay - the largest of the islands has some medieval ruins to explore.
Day 7 - Friday - Tomb Bay and Cleopatras Bay
(Breakfast, lunch and dinner onboard)
A day of cruising on the Bay of Fethiye, anchoring in Tomb Bay for swimming, snorkelling and a tender ride ashore to view the porticoed temple and pigeonhole tombs carved into the rock face. Continuing on to Cleopatras Bay, moor a short distance from the partly submerged ruins of a monastery (believed by some to be the bathhouse used by Cleopatra during her time spent here). Take a swim around the ruins before returning to the yacht for pre-dinner cocktails.
Day 8 - Saturday - Tersane Island - Boynuz Buku - Gocek
(Breakfast onboard)
Another full day of relaxed cruising on the Bay of Fethiye, bay hopping in the morning, visiting the little inlet known as Kapi Creek with its interesting ruins ashore and then anchoring for lunch in the small cove on Tersane Island. In the afternoon, go ashore to explore the ruins of a Byzantine shipbuilding settlement or swim and snorkel off the yacht. Sail to the Yassica Islands and then into Boynuz Buku for the remainder of the day. Return to Gocek harbour. After breakfast disembarkation around 10:00 am and transfer to the airport or your hotel.
